Fillings

Tooth decay is the most common reason for a filling. Other reasons are broken teeth, tooth grinding or wear from opening containers and nail biting.

First decay must be totally removed and the nerve of the tooth must be protected with a liner. Filling types are silver amalgam, composite, ceramic or Gold.

Esthetic fillings are restorations involving the bonding of materials to natural teeth. They are functional as well as esthetic. Teeth that have enough tooth structure can have a direct filling. The uses of ceramics and composites bonded to the teeth allows for less reduction and thinner reconstruction while maintaining a durable, pretty restoration.
