During your hygiene appointment not only are your teeth cleaned but also a strict protocol is followed.
Your mouth receives:
- Periodontal probing and charting
- Evaluation for deep cleaning with anesthetic
- Scaling and prophylaxis
- 4 bitewing radiographs annually and a full mouth radiographic series every 5 years
- Oral cancer screening exam using the latest technology (Identifi by Trimura)
- Placement of Arestin, a site specific antibiotic that helps fight periodontal disease
- Review of your homecare
- Topical fluoride if necessary
- Evaluation of need for prescription fluoride
- Evaluation of tooth color and whitening if needed
